Harry Potter stories came from the mind of a then-unknown British writer, J.K. Rowling. I was a librarian at the time, and everyone wanted to read the stories. It wasn't just children, it was adults too. I knew the people, and they weren't parents picking something up for the kids. They wanted to read about Harry Potter themselves. The books really appeal to everyone. Their long stays on the best-seller lists prove that. In case you haven't read them, in a nutshell (and don't worry, I won't give anything away!) Harry Potter is a boy who doesn't know he is a wizard. His parents are dead and he lives with relatives who hate him. Then suddenly, when he is eleven, he is in a different and far more exciting world and has mysterious powers. He's at Hogwarts, a school for young wizards and witches, and he has some new friends and some serious enemies. It's not only a more exciting world, but a very dangerous one for Harry. Naturally, with the popularity of the Harry Potter stories, it was inevitable that movies would be made. They too have been a tremendous success. Everyone wondered how true the first movie would be to the book, and it was very true. It and later movies (now available on DVDs as well) are great family entertainment. There are many Harry Potter posters and other items available. Children love to live with the magic of Harry's world. Rosana Hart writes about many popular poster categories at her website http://www.infoandhelp.com/posters/ and a selection of Harry Potter posters can be seen there. |
